How to play Junk Magnet

Junk Magnet is a free, single-player 3D browser survival game. Pilot a tiny robot through an endless scrapyard, collect wreckage, and turn it into an orbit of automatically firing scrap. Survive robot swarms, choose upgrades, and unlock permanent workshop improvements between runs.

No download or account is required. You can play with a keyboard or touch controls. The game is a playable prototype; balancing and physical-device testing are ongoing.

Keyboard and touch controls

Move: Use WASD or arrow keys, or drag on the game arena on a touch screen.
Attack: Automatic. Move near silver wreckage to collect scrap and reload your orbit.
Upgrade: Collect blue energy to level up. Choose with a click, tap, keys 1–3, or arrow keys and Enter.
Pause: Press Escape or use the pause button. Solo combat also pauses while you choose an upgrade.

Survive, salvage, repeat

Your orbit fires at nearby enemies automatically. When it runs out of scrap, a close-range magnetic pulse keeps attacking. Collect more wreckage to rebuild your orbit, and collect blue energy nuts for experience.

Enemy pressure increases over time. Keep moving, watch the ground warnings before boss attacks land, and explore for supplies:

Repair stations restore up to 40 health when you need it.
Supply chests open after 1.2 seconds nearby and grant five XP, six scrap, and three parts.
Salvage contracts require eight seconds in their zone and grant twelve XP, a full orbit, and eight parts. Leaving slowly drains progress.

Each discovery rewards you once per run. Defeat banks the parts you earned; abandoning an unfinished run does not.

Weapon evolution recipes

There are ten abilities and three weapon evolutions. An evolution activates automatically when both of its required ability ranks are reached during the same run.

Scrap Cyclone

Orbiting Saws rank 5 + Pickup Magnet rank 2. Creates permanent rotating blades with area damage and an inward pull.

Storm Circuit

Chain Lightning rank 5 + Turbo Treads rank 2. Adds longer reach, extra lightning jumps, and faster attacks.

Iron Bastion

Scrap Turret rank 5 + Steel Plating rank 2. Creates longer-lived, faster turrets with piercing rounds.

Robots and permanent upgrades

SCRAP-01 is available from the start and has a 10% damage bonus.
SCOUT costs 80 parts and has 18% more speed and 0.8 metres of extra pickup range.
VOLT costs 120 parts, starts with lightning, and has 15% more damage and 5% less speed.

Reinforced Hull reduces incoming damage. Magnet Tuning extends your pickup range. Each permanent upgrade has three ranks costing 25, 60, and 110 parts. Robot selection and workshop upgrades apply to your next run.

When you are defeated, you bank discovery and boss parts, plus one part per ten kills and per thirty seconds survived.

Frequently asked questions

Is Junk Magnet free?

Yes. Junk Magnet is free to play in your browser, with no account, download, or ads.

Does Junk Magnet save progress?

Parts, unlocked robots, workshop upgrades, and personal bests save in your browser's local storage. There is no account or cloud sync, so progress does not transfer between browsers or devices. Clearing browser data removes it. If storage is blocked, progress lasts only for the current session.

Can I resume an unfinished run?

In solo play, Pause → Main Menu → Continue resumes the current run while the page stays open. Reloading or closing the page loses an unfinished run.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Touch controls are available: drag in the arena to move and tap to choose upgrades. Performance depends on your device and browser. Lower the graphics quality in Settings if needed; physical-device testing is ongoing.

Does Junk Magnet have multiplayer?

Online co-op is temporarily unavailable while performance issues are being fixed. The public game currently offers single-player survival.

Which languages are available?

English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Change the language in Settings. The game also offers adjustable graphics, separate music and sound controls, and reduced-motion support.
